Manuela Besomi (President)
Manuela is a Physiotherapist (UDD, 2012) and MSc in Clinical Epidemiology (UFRO, 2016) with clinical and research experience in sports and running-related injuries. Manuela is currently a second year PhD student within the School of Health and Rehabilitation Science at The University of Queensland and is the current President of UQ Chile Association.
Orlando Flores (Vice-President)
Orlando is a Physiotherapist (PUCV, 2002) with more than ten years of teaching and clinical experience on paediatric rehabilitation. Orlando is enrolled at the Faculty of Medicine, The University of Queensland and has recently submitted his PhD thesis. He is also holding casual teaching positions within the Faculty of Health and Behavioural Sciences.
Orlando is one of the founder members of UQ Chile and has been an office holder in two previous periods (2015 and 2016).
Felipe Retamal-Walter (Treasurer)
Felipe has a background in Speech Pathology & Audiology from the U. Valparaiso. He has teaching and clinical experience working at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. He is a current PhD Candidate at the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences and his current research explores the nature of engagement in telepractice early intervention for young children with hearing loss and their families.
Cristian Riveros (Secretary)
Cristian is a Physiotherapist, and holds a Master’s degree in Kinesiology and Biomechanics. He has experience in teaching and involved in academic management and research in biological signal processing. Currently awarded a Becas-Chile Scholarship to study a PhD at HMNS at The University of Queensland (starting in April 2019).
Rodrigo Suarez (General Manager)
Rodrigo is a Biologist (2003) from the University of Chile, with a PhD in Neurosciences from the Faculty of Medicine (U Chile). In 2011 he was recruited as a postdoctoral fellow (Level A) at the Queensland Brain Institute, and in 2015 was awarded an ARC DECRA Fellowship.
Rodrigo was involved in initial organisation of UQ Chile association, and have served as academic coordinator, as well as participated in workshops and panel discussions on career development, science in Chile and collaborations Chile-Australia.
