Pia is a Geologist, Master in Science graduated with highest honors from Universidad de Chile. She has experience in mineralogical, metallurgical and geometallurgical data analysis and interpretation for Cu and Fe ore deposits, as well as teaching in undergraduate courses.
She is currently last year PhD student at the JKMRC-SMI centre of UQ, where she got the Ian Morley Prize on 2018. Pia also holds a position of Instructor Lecturer at the Mining Engineering Department of Universidad de Chile. Her current research is focused on understanding which are the geological controls for comminution response of rocks. Her major research interest is the transformation of geological data into valuable information for mineral processing.
