Dr. Rodrigo Suárez
Rodrigo is the General Manager of UQ Chile and a ARC DECRA Research Fellow at Queensland Brain Institute (UQ).
Rodrigo leads the Academic team of the association, and coordinates the efforts to enhance the academic student/researcher experience of UQ Chile’s members.
Manuela is a physiotherapist and PhD student at the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences at UQ.
She will be helping UQ Chile to understand the academic interests of its members and to organise activities to fulfill their needs.
Pia is a geologist and PhD student at the Sustainable Mineral Institute at UQ. She was also the former president of UQ Chile in the period 2018.
Pia will work at the Academic team organising workshops and seminars that will help to develop relevant skills on UQ Chile’s members.
Welcoming and Social Events
Felipe is a speech pathologist currently conducting his PhD studies at the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences at UQ.
Felipe is the Treasurer of UQ Chile and leads the Welcoming and Social Events team. The team will offer our new and prospective members the best possible experience at their arrival to Brisbane.
Jenny is an occupational therapist and PhD candidate at the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences at UQ. She is a former president of UQ Chile (2017).
Jenny was involved in the development and updating of the “Manual de Bienvenida” that UQ Chile offers to its prospective new members. She will continue working within the Welcoming and Social Events team to provide social and emotional support to UQ Chile’s members.
Antonia is a Chilean nurse with over 5 years of clinical experience. She has helped to edit the third version of the “Manual de Bienvenida” and collaborated with a number of social events for UQ Chile.
This year, Antonia will continue working within the Welcoming and Social Events team to help our newest members to settle down in Queensland.
Social Media and Communications
Orlando is the Vice-President of UQ Chile and coordinates the Social Media and Communication Team.
Orlando manages UQ Chile’s Facebook and Twitter accounts.
Ignacio is a PhD student in Science and Engineering at Queensland University of Technology (QUT).
He is a member of UQ Chile from 2016, and is currently part of the Social Media and Communications team as website designer & developer.
Julián is a Chilean engineer currently conducting his Master in Environmental Sciences at UQ.
He is part of the Social Media and Communications team as responsible of visual media and Instagram account.
Sports and Recreational Events
Cristian is a physiotherapist and prospective PhD student at the School of Human Movement and Nutrition Sciences. He is also the Secretary of UQ Chile for 2019.
Cristian leads the Sports and Recreational Events team aiming to offer our associates opportunities for leisure and sports in a familiar environment.
Javiera is a veterinary doctor and Master student at the School of Environmental Sciences at UQ. Javiera has contributed to organise a number of social events for UQ Chile, including the 2018 independence day celebration.
Javiera will continue supporting the work of the Sports and Recreational Events team this 2019.
Dr. Rodrigo Suárez
Rodrigo is a biologist and PhD in Neurosciences currently working at the Queensland Brain Institute (QBI), at The University of Queensland.
Rodrigo will coordinate the relationship of UQ Chile with the Chilean UQ Alumni community, aiming to strengthening ties and run activities of common interest for current and former UQ students.
Dra. Edith Elgueta
Edith is a physiotherapist and PhD in Rehabilitation Sciences by The University of Queensland. She is a founder member of UQ Chile and was the president of UQ Chile association in 2016.
Now based in Chile, Edith will work alongside the Alumni team to establish better and more fruitful connections between UQ Chile’s members and UQ Alumni in areas of mutual interest.
Dra. Marcela Gatica
Marcela holds a PhD in Immunology from The University of Queensland. She works as a scientific disseminator at Universidad de La Serena (Chile). She is also one of the founder of the website www.incandescente.cl, dedicated to the public awareness of science.
Marcela has accepted to be part of the Alumni team of UQ Chile for the period January-December 2019.
